Volunteer Business Coordinator/Teacher

Description

The Business Program Coordinator will help us build and manage our new business education program. The business courses provide crucial education to help the women we work with utilize their loans to full capacity and make sound financial decisions for their families. The Coordinator will be responsible for teaching classes, recruiting, managing and training qualified volunteer teachers, and working to maximize the impact we can have in the communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a big impact in a very new social change organization. There is room to grow professionally and personally in leadership, fundraising, recruitment and more, plus the opportunity to learn about the rich cultural community of Oaxaca, Mexico.

A commitment to ending poverty, experience leading groups, and the flexibility to work in a start-up non-profit are essential.

Major Responsibilities

Delivery of high-quality teaching by preparing lessons and materials, continuing to develop curriculum, accurately assessing the needs of the students and adjusting to them. Recruit and manage qualified volunteer teachers, making sure we are providing the best business classes possible. Organize, schedule and run sessions within each community. Make sure students have a clear understanding of the content, especially when participants are not 100% fluent in Spanish, in which cases collaboration with a translator will be needed.

Minimum Requirements

College degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Marketing Fluent in Spanish Excellent people skills: outgoing, friendly, warm, professional; ability and passion for building relationships with individuals from different backgrounds
Good judgment, strong initiative, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Demonstrated commitment to social change Experience living abroad

Preferred Additional Qualifications


 Experience in international development, marketing or business management 1 or 2 years in a full-time, professional leadership position

Commitment

20-25 hours/week Minimum 3-month minimum commitment required

Compensation

This is an unpaid volunteer position, and volunteers are responsible for their own travel and living costs. We can help volunteers find housing in an affordable posada, apartment or with a host family.
