Day of the Dead with Women Keeping Its Traditions Alive
A community experience celebrating memory, family and tradition.
You are invited to experience this celebration alongside the women and communities who live it.
Our Day of the Dead experiences are not traditional tours. You will spend the day with an En Vía woman entrepreneur and her family in communities like Teotitlán del Valle or San Miguel del Valle, sharing real moments in her home and community.
From preparing traditional food and learning about Día de Muertos altars to hearing the stories behind the traditions that matter most.
Spaces are limited, as each Day of the Dead experience takes place in a real community setting with an En Vía family.

Oct 28–29 | Pan de Muerto Workshop
Holiday Sale
A hands-on, slower introduction to the season.
You’ll be welcomed into the bakery of an En Vía woman entrepreneur in San Miguel del Valle or Teotitlán del Valle. This experience is centred entirely on pan de muerto — learning how it is made, its meaning on the altar, and its role in welcoming loved ones.
You’ll share a traditional meal, take part in a baking workshop, and learn directly from your host about how this tradition is lived within her family and community. You will finish the day with your own pan de muerto to take home

Oct 30–31 | Market & Altar Preparation
The beginning of the celebration.
Across different communities, families begin preparing their homes and altars — gathering flowers, candles, food, and offerings for the arrival of the souls.
You’ll spend the day with an En Vía entrepreneur as she prepares her home and business for the celebration. This may include visiting markets, helping with altar preparation, cooking, and learning the meaning behind each offering.

Holiday Sale
A deeply meaningful day of arrival.
Families gather around the altar as the souls return home. You’ll spend the day moving between the home and the community — sharing food, visiting altars, and witnessing how different families welcome their loved ones depending on their traditions. In some communities, this may also include time at the cemetery.

Nov 2 | Honoring & Saying Goodbye
A reflective day of remembrance.
Families accompany the souls as they prepare to say goodbye. This may include visiting the cemetery, decorating graves with flowers and candles, and sharing time in the home with food and memory.
