Volunteering:

English Teacher:
English Teachers plan interactive lesson for kids and adults and help us evaluate the progress of each student. We currently teach in 2 communities within the Tlacolula Valley: Teotitlán del Valle and Tlacochahuaya. In Teotitlán del Valle, we teach on Tuesdays and Thursdays with two sessions, 4-5 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. and in Tlacochahuaya our classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays with two sessions, 4-5 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. 

  • Days/hours: 2 or 4 days per weeks (2 hours per day + extra time travelling in public transportation).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in English (oral and written). Spanish is helpful but not required.

  • Minimum time commitment: 1 month or more.

 

Community Teacher:
Community Teachers work directly with our women out in their communities providing tools they can use in their daily life for both personal and professional growth while creating meaningful relationships with them. We currently teach our Introductory Entrepreneurship Courses and Monthly Courses in the following communities within the Tlacolula Valley: Santa María Guelacé, San Sebastián Abasolo, San Juan Guelavía, Teotitlán del Valle, San Marcos Tlapazola and San Miguel del Valle. 

  • Days/hours: Monday to Friday (4 or 6 hours per day + extra time travelling in public transportation).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in Spanish (oral and written).

  • Minimum commitment: 4-6 months (or longer).

 

 

 

 

Translation Tour Guide:
Translation Tour Guides facilitate and translate conversations between tour participants and the women in our program and their families. We currently have tours on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in 6 communities in the Tlacolula Valley: Santa María Guelacé, San Sebastián Abasolo, San Juan Guelavía, Teotitlán del Valle, San Marcos Tlapazola and San Miguel del Valle. We also have private tours in different days.

  • Days/hours: 2-6 tours per month - Thursday and Saturday (7 hours per day), we can have tours in different days.

  • Language requirements: Fluent in Spanish and English.

  • Minimum commitment: 3 months (or longer).

 

 

 

 

Orientation Tour Guide:
Orientation Tour Guides showcase our programs and ensure customers know and understand how the organization runs and how important our responsible tourism program is to the functioning of the organization. We currently have tours on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in 6 communities in the Tlacolula Valley: Santa María Guelacé, San Sebastián Abasolo, San Juan Guelavía, Teotitlán del Valle, San Marcos Tlapazola and San Miguel del Valle. We also have private tours in different days.

  • Days/hours: 2-6 tours per month (7 hours per day).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in English.

  • Minimum commitment: 3 months (or longer).

 

 

 

 

Photographer:
Photographers will play a crucial role in documenting the progress and development of women in our program and telling their stories. Photographers will participate in a step of the loan process and will be responsible for visiting the women to take a photo of their loan purchases. And they will also take to take documentary photographs showing something of the women’s work and lives. We currently work in the following communities within the Tlacolula Valley: Santa María Guelacé, San Sebastián Abasolo, San Juan Guelavía, Teotitlán del Valle, San Marcos Tlapazola and San Miguel del Valle. 

 

  • Days/hours: 2-3 days per week (3-4 hours per day + extra time travelling in public transportation).

  • Language requirements: Intermediate/advanced or fluent in Spanish.

  • Minimum commitment: 2-3 months (or longer).

 

Internships:

English Program - Office Intern:

The English Program - Office Intern will be trusted with general office duties including, but not limited to, research, data entry, marketing and general coordination. Furthermore you’ll give your support in the student and volunteer recruitment & training as well as monitor the debrief & exit meetings. Your role will also include assistance in coordinating the monthly class roster and generating the monthly numbers.

 

  • Days/hours: Monday to Friday (9:30 am to 2:30 pm).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in English (oral and written) and basic/intermediate in Spanish. 

  • Minimum commitment: 3-6 months (or longer).

 

English Program - Community Intern:

The English Program - Community Intern will go into the communities where we teach to supervise our ongoing English classes and support our volunteer teachers & their students. Furthermore you will assist in new volunteer trainings, debrief & exit meetings and serve as an English teacher substitute when needed. 


You’ll also help plan interactive lessons for kids and adults and evaluate the progress of each student. 

 

  • Days/hours: Monday to Thursday (1:30 pm to 7:00 pm).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in English (oral and written) and intermediate/advanced in Spanish. 

  • Minimum commitment: 3-6 months (or longer).

 

Community Teacher Intern:

Responsible Tourism Intern:

The Responsible Tourism Intern aids the Responsible Tourism Coordinator in communicating with interested visitors about our programs and tours, managing tour reservations (responding to all tour inquiries, taking tour payments), promoting tours, managing tour financials and assisting with sales of merchandise. You will also work as a tour guide with En Vía and can become part of En Vía's loan collection team (depending on Spanish level). 

 

  • Days/hours: Monday to Friday (9:30 am to 1:30 pm + some afternoons and some Saturdays).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).

  • Minimum commitment: 4-6 months (or longer).

 

Communications Intern:

The Communications Intern is instrumental in reporting and analyzing all aspects of communications, developing communications strategies, managing online tools (social media posts, website, blog content) and creating/distributing other promotional materials for our programs and campaigns. You will also work as a tour guide with En Vía and can become part of En Vía's loan collection team (depending on Spanish level).

 

  • Days/hours: Monday to Friday (30-35 hours).

  • Language requirements: Fluent in English. Basic/intermediate Spanish.

  • Minimum commitment: 4-6 months (or longer).
