Thinking of applying to be an intern? You should know:

• Interns work 30-40 hours a week.
• We prefer a 6 month commitment, though depending on the position a 3 - 5 month commitment can also be arranged.

• We are happy to work with University students on internships for credit or through fellowships.

• Most internships are unpaid.

• We generally hire one intern at a time for each position so contact us well before your trip to see what positions are available!

Responsible Tourism Intern: The Responsible Tourism Intern works with our Responsible Tourism Program Coordinator. The intern communicates with interested visitors about our programs and tours, manages tour reservations (respond to all tour inquiries, takes tour payments), promotes tours, manages tour financials and assists with sales of merchandise.
The intern also works as a tour guide with En Vía and depending on Spanish level can become part of En Vía's loan collection team. This is a great role to learn about responsible tourism and gain insight into En Vía's programs and daily operations.
minimum commitment: 4-6 months preferred
requirements: positive outgoing personality, ability for building relationships with individuals from different backgrounds, organized and task-oriented

Communications Intern: The Communications Intern is instrumental in reporting and analyzing all aspects of communications, developing communications strategies, managing online tools (social media posts, website, blog content), and creating and distributing other promotional materials for our program. The intern also works as a tour guide with En Vía and depending on Spanish level can become part of En Vía's loan collection team. This is a great role to gain insight into En Vía's programs and daily operations.

English Program Coordinator: Without the English Program Coordinator our English Program could not exist! The Coordinator is in charge of recruiting, interviewing, training and supporting our team of volunteer English teachers. The Coordinator also oversees curriculum development and student enrollment and is our main liaison with parents of the children in our English program. This is a great position for someone with experience teaching and working with children to develop their skills as a manager and/or to gain international work experience.

Compensation: this internship includes a small stipend which generally covers the cost of rent here in Oaxaca

Impact Assessment Intern: En Vía is dedicated to self-reflection and finding new ways to measure the actual impact that our programs have in participants' lives. Impact Assessment is a new and ever-evolving project for En Vía. We welcome interns on a project by project basis for this program. Projects might include: design and implementation of new measurement tools (surveys, questionnaires, focus group plans, etc.), data analysis (advanced knowledge of excel is very welcome), writing reports on data gathered and/or creating info graphics from data gathered, field work such as conducting interviews and surveys (requires advanced Spanish). If you have experience or are keenly interested in impact assessment, contact us to find out about current projects.

NOTE: the main difference between an Impact Volunteer and Impact Intern is the amount and length of time you are available to commit
