Microfinance Tours

This is our most popular tour. It will take you into two communities approximately 25-40 minutes outside of Oaxaca to meet women who are ready for their next En Vía microloan. Each of the women we visit will present her project – whether it is weaving rugs or raising chickens, selling flowers or making tortillas – and explain what she has done with past loans, and what she plans to do with subsequent loans. You will hear about the projects, learn about their community, and have a chance to ask any questions you may have about how it all works. A delicious lunch at an En Vía borrower’s business or home will provide you with an authentic taste of Oaxacan cuisine.

Cost: $850 pesos/ $50 USD – lunch and transportation included.

Tours leave from the Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca on Thursdays at 1pm and Saturdays at 9.15am and last 6 – 7 hours.

"Meeting these talented, intelligent, resourceful women and their families was a privilege. The tours help fund the lending program so I felt that not only was I receiving a great experience but also contributing to the people we met. "
