Ida Dolores Contreras Chávez
Artesanías Buena Vista
At the age of 9, Ida began creating carpets, but she formally started her business in 2011 when she was given the opportunity to sell at the crafts market. There, she met En Via, and she now runs her business from her home while occasionally selling at the market. She maintains her business at home because she cannot sell in many other places or travel to other parts of Oaxaca, as she cares for her disabled sister. Her products are original and natural, made using cochineal dyes and other natural dyes. She washes her threads with amole from the very beginning to ensure they are clean. What she loves most about her business is welcoming people and having the freedom to do what she loves.
