Cenzontle Zapoteco

Juanita Lorenzo Mendoza

Juanita learned to weave from her mother at a very young age, and they now run a weaving business and comedor (eatery) together. The pair have been with En Vía for 6 years, and use their loans to purchase materials for natural dyeing, as well as attending workshops to learned how to cultivate their own nopal cactus and cochineal for those sought-after red dyes. Currently, they host mostly tour groups but are ready to open their comedor to the general public, serving traditional, homemade food for just MXN$150pp.
