Ofelia Bautista Ruíz

Ofelia started weaving at age 8. In her day, weaving was a man's job, but she wanted to learn and so her father taught her. Before joining En Vía in 2012, she made tapetes (rugs) for other businesses. Now, she has cut out the middle man by having her own. As well as the classic tapetes and bolsas (bags), she also makes bufandas (scarves), beanies (including Christmas-style elf hats!), animal keychains and other charms that can be added to handbags. Like many of the women, Ofelia sells her products in the market.
